Centre for Cell Manufacturing
The Centre for Cell Manufacturing is led by Dr. Linh Nguyen. This team manufactures cell and gene therapy products that are administered to patients in early phase clinical trials. These products have included tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), T-cell receptor (TCR)-engineered T cells and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cells.
The team's expertise includes manufacturing operations, product quality testing, process development, technology transfer, supply chain management, and preparation of regulatory submissions. Manufacturing activities are performed according to phase-appropriate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The team operates under the Quality Management System of the UHN Blood and Marrow Transplant-Immune Effector Cell (BMT-IEC) Program, which is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).
In addition to manufacturing cells for clinical use, the team is also involved in translational research aimed at developing novel approaches of immunotherapy.
